A Failure to Read and Inwardly Digest!
OK people, a comment was posted on a recent blog questioning the credentials of both the authorship of this blog and its content, so I am going to set out where the authors come from and what the content is about.
The Comment:
The blurb at the top - regarding the mix of artistic and academic temperaments - is it a joke? It sounds OTT pretentious! Also, the "Scotland" and "Cornwall" links - do you believe the "pure Celt" fantasy? Are you a "Little Scotlander" style racist?
Or is this blog a joke? Are you English really? I've been reading some of your comments on other blogs and you seem to be attempting a cross between Lady Marjorie Bellamy of "Upstairs, Downstairs" and Margaret Thatcher.
Odd. But funny.
Point 1:
"The blurb at the top - regarding the mix of artistic and academic temperaments - is it a joke? It sounds OTT pretentious!"
Clearly, the author of the comment doesn’t seem to recognise an irony when it is presented to them; after all this is only a strap line and to be read in whatever way the reader wants!
Point 2:
"Also, the "Scotland" and "Cornwall" links - do you believe the "pure Celt" fantasy? Are you a "Little Scotlander" style racist?"
The authors of this blog are a mix of Cornish (BondBloke), English (BondWoman), Scottish ((RoadRunner and Queen of Scots) hence the Scotland and Cornwall links) and one of Polish extraction (Madry). Most aspects of this mix should be pretty obvious from reading the posts to the blog. Funnily enough what we all have in common is we would probably all describe ourselves as European. Anyway, there’s a bit of a difference between Celtic and Scots - a subtlety which escapes the author who is too busy attacking us to think clearly. In bringing up a point about the "pure Celt fantasy" the author of the comment is showing a little indulgence in fantasy as they seem to fail to realise that it is not a fantasy and that there are distinctive Celtic cultures; as to questioning if we are "Little Scotlander style racist?", well that is just insulting from someone who has never met us and doesn't know us, also if they took the time to read and digest what we write they would not have made such an asinine comment!
Point 3:

No this blog is not a joke, as anyone with an ounce of common sense could work out for themselves if they took the time to read the content and think about it; as Jon Worth points out in his link to us it is "an interesting and somewhat bizarre mix of UK and EU politics". Also I try to inject a little humour into the blog along with the odd rant and quirky points, and if the author of the comment doesn’t like this content then they don’t have to read it. The comparison, particularly to “Margaret Thatcher” (I could hardly bring myself to type her name), is downright insulting to a committed Socialist (and I am not talking a Blairite socialist either) like myself; my suggestion to the author is to go and take the “Political Compass” test and find out which part of the political spectrum they fall into before trying to pigeonhole others, for their information this was my personal result!
Point 4:
“Odd. But funny.”
Well, I don’t know about the other authors of this blog, but I personally take that as a compliment!

Defence is admirable, although (in my opinion) this may be more words and energy than such a small minded comment deserved.
...success with your blog.
Thanks whoever you are (and I suspect I know) I was just exercising my right to reply and show 'small mindedness for what it is...
To reply is always a right- especially as it is your blog! :)
Although in my experience there can be a fine line between those with small minded or prejudiced opinions and those who post to instigate anger or arguments.
I completely agree with that anaysis and have had such provocation in the past with a comment simply aimed at provoking anger - those I simply delete...
Seems to be a bit much on "Celts" and "Celtic" in this particular entry...(apropo previous complaints of excessive fitba chat cluttering up the blog-waves). But just to balance the books, what about some mention of - say - the "wide-RANGERING" nature of the contributors. Or that living in Scotland in the winter risks that one gets "BLUE-NOSES". As Rod Stewart would say - Tonight's the Night...
Indeed it is, and apparently in an act of sisterly solidarity, BondWoman will be drinking her beer out of a Rangers glass tonight...
