More Labour Sleaze

On Monday I reflected on NewLabour going into its tenth year and pointed to a few problems that they have faced. Had I known what I was going to on the Today programme this morning I would have waited until today. It seems that there has been money sloshing around Labour circles that Jack Dromey, the treasurer, knew nothing about:

"Labour's treasurer has revealed that he and other elected officials did not know the party had secretly borrowed millions of pounds last year."
very strange indeed. I have frequently commented on other blogs to the fact that I think that this bunch of New Labour loonies are morally bankrupt; it seems that I have been extremely guilty of understatement! Just how can a democratic party be run properly and efficiently if the elected officials responsible for such matters are kept in the dark about borrowed money? More importantly, just what has happend to this money, where is it now, what has it been used for, and just who was responsible for it, both in loaning/giving it and in the use made of it? On Monday I pointed out that the country was promised, by Tony Blair, "no more sleaze"; well from where I am sitting this is not sleaze, it has gone far beyond that and is bordering on, if not wallowing in, rank corruption!

Update 2:30 pm:

This has just been brought to my attention!

The issue I have with all of Labour's failings is that no matter how many there are and or how gross the misconduct, the (viable) alternatives are, in my opinion, worse...

Worse than what? A bunch of loonies who seem to think that they are running the country for their own benefit, who lie compulsively, who are morally bankrupt, who want ot throw all of ur civil liberties outr ot=f the window. whoi would lock us all up as terrorists if the could etc.etc. the list is endless. As I said in the pevious post "Don't get me wrong here, I am not, never was, and never will be a Tory supporter; I am a good old fashioned Socialist, and I am not, never have been, and never will be a supporter of the bunch of morally bankrupt loonies that are, at present, running this country." I would be the last one to want a Tory gov't but if that is the only way to make people see sense and to get back to good socilist values rather than this bunch of "Tories in drag" then so be it!

I agree with your judgment of the Government. I think they have been in power for too long. Our political system does not have enough checks and balances to restrain the use of power and they have had been there for a long time.I just think that it's massive shame that the only real viable alternative to form a government is the Tory party - and as much as I want a non-Labour Government I'm not sure that I could bring myself to vote Tory...

I wasn't saying that I woudl vote Tory - GOD FORBID!!!!! - I would rathe waste my vote than that. However living in Edinburgh I have the opportunity to vote for the Scottish Socialist Party which, for me is a viable alternative. And I totally agre that it is a massiv shame that the only viable alternative is Tory; the LibDems may get there eventually, but I very much doubt it.
