The Real Thing

Last night I sat and listened to the new CD by Kris Kristofferson called 'This Old Road'. And I tell you it is really good. Not great. But really, really good. For anyone interested in moving away from the in-your-face outrage of Steve Earle’s recent stuff (don’t get me wrong – I love it too) and maybe shifting back a gear to the authentic and essentially simple protest tradition of American folk music (the tradition that, back then, Dylan mined so brilliantly), then this one is for you. Each song displays a master song writer at work. He may be in his 70th year, but this is special from the man who gave us Bobby McGee. Give it a listen.
